Our work with Samaritan Recovery Community
Partnerships in Action
Samaritan Recovery Community (SRC) has provided rehabilitation services in the heart of Nashville for over 50 years. Like many nonprofits, they outgrew their space due to community needs. But they faced a problem. They could not renovate their space without pausing their life-changing services; there wasn’t enough capital to build a new building on the land they owned and SRC did not want to sell their land and move their facilities outside of the city because they wouldn’t be able to serve the community as well.
So, we got creative.
Holladay Ventures, Evergreen Real Estate and SRC envisioned a plan that would allow SRC to continue services throughout construction. While SRC remained fully operational, Holladay Ventures and Evergreen Real Estate built a brand new, debt-free building right next door to SRC’s former campus that doubled their treatment capacity and developed two brand new affordable housing communities, bringing a total of 484 affordable units to East Nashville. This transformational redevelopment also allowed SRC to gain an ownership stake in the apartment complex, creating an additional revenue stream to support and expand its services.

“Beyond providing much-needed affordable housing, Holladay Ventures and Evergreen Real Estate are building the Samaritan Recovery Community a new 71,000-square-foot modern facility. Evergreen Real Estate and Holladay Ventures are not only highly qualified in affordable housing and community development, but they are passionate about the work they do.”
